Sophia and Jaxon are top names for babies born at St. Luke’s
12/24/2012
Sioux City, IA - Sophia and Jaxon are the most popular names for babies born at St. Luke’s in 2012. Last year, Aiden and Ava were the top choices. Aiden was bumped to number two after reigning atop the boys’ list for the past five years.
Baby boys given the name Jaxon had the single most popular spelling for a boy’s name at St. Luke’s, but other versions included Jaxson, Jaxsen, and the more traditional Jackson. Other popular boy names this year were Jayden, Bentley, Liam, Jace, Alexander, Gabriel, Hunter, and Mason.
St. Luke’s 2012 list of baby girl names placed Sophia first. The name was also spelled as Sofia. Other popular girls’ names included Isabella, Emma, Chloe, Ava, Emily, Brynlee, Ellie, Harper and Layla.
Even if the name was popular with so many families, the many spelling variations will help set the child apart. Chloe was spelled five different ways including Khloe, Chloey, Chloie and Khloee. Six alternate spellings of Aiden made the boys’ list.
Creativity continued this year with little girls being named Serenity, Jetta, and Ximena. A few names were even popular on both the boys’ and girls’ lists including Payton, Dakota, Grayson, Jaydin, Bentley and Lincoln.
St. Luke’s is Siouxland’s number one choice for childbirth; four out of five families choose to have their babies at St. Luke’s.
