Boogie to better health
Sioux City, IA - Siouxlanders will be dancing toward better health at St. Luke’s Spirit of Women’s Day of Dance® on Saturday, February 23, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Marina Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
The event will have attendees gliding across the dance floor in an effort to stay heart healthy and improve overall wellness. In addition to enjoying performances from local entertainers, Day of Dance attendees can learn dance steps from area instructors. Health screenings will also be available throughout the day, including blood pressure checks and oral health screenings. The first 100 attendees will receive a complimentary gift bag.
The very popular Dancing with the Siouxland Stars competition will be held with local celebrities vying for the coveted red shoe trophy. This year’s dancers include Andrea Orr, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at St. Luke’s NICU, who partners with Dan Locke, Account Executive with KG95. The couple is instructed by Jessica Jenson and Mark Hubbard of Contemporary Dance Studio. Anne Westra, Economic Development Specialist with the City of Sioux City is dancing with Matt Peterson, Channel 9 KCAU-TV’s Morning Meteorologist. Kayla Kellen with Rhythm Avenue Dance Academy is their instructor. Socorra Wynn Roth of Socorra’s Performing Arts Studio is leading Kari Kellen, Executive Director of Sioux City Children’s Museum, and her partner Jim Forey, Financial Consultant with Security National Bank.
“The key message behind this event is that getting active and being healthy can be fun. Dance is an exercise easily incorporated into your routine and can be done anywhere,” says Kristin Koch, Coordinator of St. Luke’s Spirit of Women program.
