Addiction and chronic pain conference scheduled

Sioux City, IA - Chronic pain, addiction and addiction medicine will headline a conference on Friday, April 5 from 8:30 am to 4 pm at St. Luke’s.

Sponsored by Jackson Recovery Centers and St. Luke’s Health System, the conference is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers and other health care professionals who care for patients with chronic pain or addiction issues. A variety of topics will be discussed including balancing pain and substance abuse in general medicine, the regulatory climate, cognitive error and opioids, methadone maintenance treatment, narcotic usage and chronic pain treatment.

Continuing education credit is available for those who qualify. Registration deadline is Tuesday, March 26. Cost of the conference is $60 which includes a light breakfast, lunch, training handouts and certificate of attendance.
