Quality Measures

St. Luke's constantly strives to improve safety and quality of care!

St. Luke's continues to exceed the State and National average scores for all CMS measures.

St. Luke's voluntarily participates in multiple national programs that offer public insight on hospital quality and safety of care. Our doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff strive to ensure patient satisfaction to every individual who walks through our doors. Our dedication to patient care is evident in the recognition we have received.

Quality Reports;

  • CMS Measures- CMS (the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) track a variety of evidence-based, scientifically-researched standards of care, referred to as Core Measures, which have been shown to result in improved clinical outcomes for hospital patients.
  • HCAHPS- Hospital Quality Alliance provides consumer reviews about key aspects of hospital care, known as HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems).
  • Press Ganey Overall & Press Ganey Service Specific- Press Ganey is a quality study based on patient perspective; it's conducted by an independent company which St. Luke's voluntarily takes part in.

We are dedicated to educating patients about hospital quality information available. The following websites allow consumers to compare hospitals in Iowa and nationally.

  • DNV is a national accreditation committed to improving healthcare.
  • Hospital Compare compares the quality of care of hospitals in Siouxland and those nationwide. Or visit www.medicare.gov and select the link "Compare Hospitals in Your Area."
  • HealthGrades allows hospitals to promote their individual rating or score for a fee.
  • Iowa Healthcare Collaborative is a provider-led organization with a goal of promoting continuous improvement in quality, patient safety and value.
