They long ago realized their responsibility to support the community that supports their livelihood. Since their move to Sioux City 28 years ago, Dr. Mike and Lynn Kafka have opened their eyes to the needs of Siouxland and become two of the community's most dedicated advocates. Their work with St. Luke's Children's Miracle Network and the families that rely upon it helped them realize that one often receives more from giving than they do from receiving. Parents of two daughters, the couple knows first-hand how reassuring a resource like St. Luke's Children's Miracle Network can be during the most difficult of times and how their gifts are helping children thrive.
"Time, talent, or treasure. Whatever their gift, everyone can make a difference and make this community a better place to live." -Lynn Kafka, St. Luke's Children's Miracle Network volunteer and long-time St. Luke's supporter
Pathologist and Medical Director of St. Luke's Laboratory Services, Dr. Mike Kafka credits the hospital's culture of giving back for initially inspiring him and his wife Lynn to look for ways they could make a difference in Siouxland. "Volunteering for various organizations has given us remarkable insight into the true needs of this community. It's a pleasure to give our time and financial support because we know how it can benefit others."
