Hospital History
St. Luke's traces its roots back to 1884 when Sioux City's first hospital, Samaritan Hospital, was opened. The hospital as it exists today was founded in 1966 through the consolidation of Lutheran and Methodist hospitals.
Over the years, St. Luke's has grown from a single, acute care hospital to a system encompassing St. Luke's Clinic Network. A member hospital of UnityPoint Health, St. Luke's is proud to provide high quality healthcare to thousands of patients in the tri-state service area.
